Job Description

The Procurement Associate role is to support the company’s client in spot buy, requisition processing and other help desk tasks. He or she will be the link between the client organization and the suppliers. Included in the role is clarification and definition of client requirements, formal bidding, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and supplier management. The resource in this role mitigates risk, operates in a cost effective manner, and delivers bottom-line /cost avoidance savings, while following the client’s and the company’s approved processes and practices.

Responsibilities
• Pre-qualify request by determining quality and completeness of request based on defined set of rules for complex requests
• Identify and source potential suppliers based on the requirements provided by client
• Obtain and analyze quote/pricing from preferred or contracted supplier and submit for approval
• Create Purchase Orders (PO), PO amendments / deletions based on requests
• Verify purchase request quality and correct buying channel
• Execute spot buying of indirect goods
• Obtain and analyze quote/pricing from preferred or contracted supplier
• Identify and advise client on cost effective methods/suppliers
• Create Purchase Orders (PO), PO amendments / deletions based on requests
• Support the client with the optimization of category policies by regular creation / update of category cards, provide input on local spend and category practices
• Act as a link between the client users and the suppliers
• Direct communication with users and suppliers via phone and email
• Solving issues arising in connection with procurement processes in the company’s and client`s tools

Core Competencies

• Very good written and spoken English skills
• Very good written and spoken German skills
• Good interpersonal skills (needs to be able to build relationships over the phone without meeting suppliers / customers on a regular basis)
• Procurement and analytical background
• Good communication skills
• Good computer literacy (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• SAP or other eRequisitioning tools experience would be an advantage
• Procurement and analytical background would be an advantage
• SSC experience is an advantage
